A group of marine science students from Korea University set out for the remote island of Ojeokdo for a school event. When they arrive, something is clearly wrong — the surrounding sea has turned foul, dead fish blanket the shore, and the islanders are covered in strange skin lesions. With no way to leave for two nights and three days, the students try to push their unease aside and make the most of the trip. That night, however, one of them becomes infected and a massive tentacle bursts from their mouth, attacking the others. The students flee toward the sea — only to find a mysterious creature waiting there, preventing anyone from leaving the island. The survivors, along with the remaining islanders and a group of soldiers, band together and begin plotting an escape. But as time passes, the dark secrets the villagers have been hiding start to surface.
