In the kingdom of Joseon, a humble woodcutter lives quietly with his mother and his dog in a ramshackle thatched cottage at the edge of a small village. His peaceful, if poor, life is upended when a gray kitten wanders into his yard — soon followed by a pigeon and a white mouse. Before he knows it, he's the reluctant caretaker of four animals. Things get far more complicated when the kitten turns out to be a purebred royal cat that belongs to a princess of the realm, and the woodcutter finds himself at the center of a dangerous plot against the king himself.
