Late at night on the outskirts of a small town, a large semi-truck barrels in at high speed, fishtailing wildly before slamming into a guardrail and rolling over. Neurosurgeon Se-jin happens to have taken a wrong turn and stumbles upon the wreck — where she finds a man still alive with a metal pipe embedded in his skull. By any normal standard he should be beyond saving, but to Se-jin, a researcher, he's nothing short of a gift from the heavens. She takes him in herself and keeps him alive, intending to use him as a research subject. When he regains consciousness, he gives his name as Lee Tae-su — and it turns out he also has amnesia, making him, from Se-jin's clinical perspective, a perfect specimen. Tae-su is bewildered by the contract she shoves in front of him, but agrees on one condition: she must help him recover his lost memories. Se-jin is astonished by how impossibly fast he heals — and then strange phenomena begin to occur around Tae-su, setting off a chain of events neither of them could have anticipated.
