Jaun has spent his whole life branded as a cursed child, shunned and alone. When a mysterious plague sweeps through his village and people begin to fall with no cure in sight, the villagers decide to appease the gods through human sacrifice — and under pressure from his own family, Jaun is dragged away as an offering to a serpent deity in place of a cousin. In the grip of that terror, he thinks of Sosa, the little snake he befriended as a child who once promised to always be by his side. As a last act of desperate hope, he calls out Sosa's name — and beneath the moonlight, a man appears before him. "I've missed you. Come home with me." A fateful, dangerous bond begins on the other side of despair.
