Civilization has grown up around two very different cities: Scalops and Sodom. Scalops is an island-like city sealed off behind twenty-four towering, fortress-like spires, as inaccessible as a temple. Sodom, shrouded in thick black smog and packed with a teeming population of mutant beings, exists to chase the rare substance called Irum and other resources that flow out of Scalops. The two cities are locked in a cold war, and Sodom itself is under the unjust rule of a dominant class known as the Ahura. At the very bottom of Sodom's social hierarchy lives a girl named Yul. Determined to change everything that is rotten about the city she calls home, she sets out on a journey toward Scalops.
