Sinopsis

Cornelia, a common girl from a small frontier village, crosses paths with a band of heroes journeying to subdue a dragon named Akteil, who has been consumed by madness. Born with the rare gift of guidance, she leads the group unerringly through a labyrinthine barrier to Akteil's lair, and together they succeed in calming the dragon. Yet because she is a commoner, Cornelia is denied recognition as a hero and instead stays by the side of Duke Devaron Astolphe — the only one who extended a hand to her. She is glad for the chance to live in the capital and care for her grandmother, but Devaron soon begins keeping her at a cold and puzzling distance. His frigid attitude emboldens the servants to treat her with contempt. Then, on the day her grandmother passes away, Cornelia makes up her mind to leave. "I'm leaving to survive. I won't come back — once is enough to regret." A year later, Cornelia is living under a false name as a village teacher when Devaron finds her.
