In Taegung, the heavenly palace of the gods, lives Suyeong — a woman chosen to bear and raise divine children. Each child she raises grows up and descends to the human world, where they become a mudang, a shaman who answers the prayers and grievances of ordinary people. Aside from these children, Taegung is also home to dokkaebi spirits who serve the palace, but Suyeong is forbidden from speaking to them or drawing close.
