Hyeseong, a boy living on a remote island, meets a mermaid named Yunhae in the sea, and the two become each other's only friend — until Hyeseong's family moves away and they are forced apart against their will. Six years later, Yunhae has gained a mysterious power and comes looking for him. But Hyeseong has changed, and sharing every moment with Yunhae the way they once did is no longer so simple. "I'm human, Yunhae. My life isn't like yours." As Yunhae's deep attachment to Hyeseong slowly begins to tip into obsession and control, their bond is tested in ways neither of them expected.
